Cookies and haircuts

Bertie: We've had a haircut in preparation for seeing Santa next weekend - you have to look smart for your Santa photos.

Oliver: And we conned our hooman into making peanut butter cookies. Yummers.

Bertie: We got the recipe from a lovely someone on swap-bot.com except we didn't have any rolled oats, so we used All Bran. And we put a teaspoon of honey in, because we like honey.

Oliver: My favourites are the ones shaped like birdies. And the hedgehog ones. And the heart, star, doggie, bone and rabbit ones.

Bertie: Sigh: Recipe below.

Peanut Butter Cookies

1 1/2C hot water
1C rolled oats or all bran
2C whole wheat flour
2 tbsp veg. oil
1/2C peanut butter
1 tsp honey

Pour hot water over all bran or oats, cool to lukewarm. stir in oil, honey and PB. Add enough flour to make stiff dough. roll on floured cutting board to 3/8-1/2 in thick. Cut out, bake for 3 hours or so at 180 degrees or until hard and dry.

Bertie: I'm diggin'. Look how deep I've dug!

Oliver: Can't look, investigatin' I think I've found something in here.

Bertie: I reckon this hole is almost Oliver-sized.

Oliver: What was that?

Bertie: Nothing, nothing. Can you close your eyes and come over here?

Oliver: Oh goody! Is it a surprise?

Bertie: It will be!

 

sleeping through our commitments

Bertie: I think we slept through last (almost) wordless wednesday!

Oliver: It's my aim to sleep through most things.

Bertie: We are setting the alarm this week.

Oliver: Try not to wake me up when you get up to turn it off.

Oliver: Mmwahahahahaha! Guess what I found? A picture of Bertie from that time when the groomer put a little blue bow on his eyebrow. I don't think he want me to show anyone this. So of course I'm putting it up here.

Super charged water bowl

Bertie: When it's hot hot hot here -

Oliver: - it was 35 degrees! Wrongtown! I was hotties!

Bertie: yes, I can tell from all your exclamation marks.  Although I guess you are black and therefore absorb more heat. And you bark at things a lot. That makes you hot.

Oliver: I am vigilant in all weathers.

Bertie: ANYWAY, when it is hot we are very glad we have a super charged water bowl. It has an almost never ending supply of water, thanks to a soft drink bottle full of water that attaches to the top.

Oliver: And sometimes I find some nice hooman has put ice cubes in there to make it nice and cool.

(almost) Wordless Wednesday

Bertie: it is always good to perfect an expression known as "Pathetic Face".

You never know when you might need to pull it out.

There's dinner in the garden...and it's going cluck, cluck

Bertie: Sometimes we have visitors in our back yard. They come over from next door, and they make Oliver quiver with excitement.

Oliver: Actually that's my stomach growling so much it's making my whole body shake. How I wish they would stop eating the grass in the back yard and come inside. They could sit in my dinner bowl.

Bertie: I don't think you would like the extra work involved. Your dinner isn't normally covered in feathers. And it doesn't normally try to peck you in the snout.

Oliver: Hmm. You're right, that could be a lot of work. Pass me the kibble.
